Best Free Web Hosting Sites (2021)

* Updates: Price list and comparison table updated.

We all love freebies, and it should come as no surprise that even with web hosting, there are tons of freebies out there if you know where to look. Not all free things are created equal, however, and this time around I'm going to take a look at what some of these free (and "almost free") web hosts have to offer.

Free hosting services at a glance

Notes and precautions:

  • Free web hosting often comes with several risks, so we do not recommend it to reputable website owners.
  • Hostinger isn't completely free, but it's extremely cheap to sign up ($ 0.99 / month) - they're on the list as an alternative.
  • For those looking for the paid hosting option, please check out Jerry's Top 10 Hosting Tips - The Use Case Comparison Charts are especially useful for serious buyers.

16 Free Website Hosting Services To Consider

1. Hostinger

Website: Hostinger.com

Hostinger was launched back in 2004 and was originally based in Kaunas, Lithuania. The company now has offices around the world and offers a wide range of hosting services including shared hosting, VPS hosting, and even a website builder.

With a strong, localized team, Hostinger has been in use for over 10 years and has steadily built an international user base that is spread across 39 countries. From risk-free hosting for beginners to advanced VPS cloud infrastructure, Hostinger strives to reach the widest possible audience. Hostinger is now home to over 29 million users worldwide.

properties
  • Simple website builder
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Email hosting accounts
  • 24/7/365 live chat support
  • Full feature hosting at almost free cost
Performance characteristics
  • Storage: 30 GB SSD
  • Bandwidth: 100 GB
  • Database: 1 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: hpanel

Hostinger = The best "almost free" website hosting ($ 0.99 / month)

Jerry's review of Hostinger narrows it down as a solid choice for users who want an ultra-cheap website hosting service. Especially if you are a beginner or on a tight budget.

We set up a test site at Hostinger and started the service in May 2018. Our test site hosted at Hostinger has consistently achieved an uptime of over 99.95% and received an "A" rating in most of the speed tests.

Upgrade option

Hostinger single hosting isn't really free, but they sell incredibly cheap price ($ 0.99 / mo). Users who want better features (such as daily auto backup, hosting more domains, and running unlimited cron jobs) can upgrade to their premium plan, which costs $ 2.89 / month.

What's the catch with the Hostinger plan?

Hostinger's extremely affordable price includes a price (pun intended). The single shared hosting plan does not include free SSL or daily backup. Also, the $ 0.99 / mo offer is only available if you sign up for four years. This is longer than the standard recommended subscription period (24 months).

For more information on Hostinger's hosting service, see this review.

2. Weebly

Website: Weebly.com

When I first looked at Weebly I rated it as a website building tool, and when I came across this article I realized that it was essentially a selling web host. Weebly is one of the new breed of sitebuilder slash web hosts that is doing fantastically well with Alexa rank of 270 now.

However, I had to look again this time as there are different positives for web hosts and site builders.

properties
  • Free Website Builder (Weebly!)
  • Free SSL security
  • Apps for your Weebly-built site
  • Ad-free hosting
  • Mobile app builder
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 500MB
  • Bandwidth: Unknown
  • Database: proprietary
  • Control Panel: Proprietary

Easy to use but only host in Weebly.com subdomain

Reliability and availability guarantees

Weebly is well supported by a dynamic community and you can also reach out to them via email or live chat.

Upgrade options

Weebly is trying to sell its online store builder so we are focusing on transactional key points. Upgrade plans increase the basic functionality, but the highlight is how many products you are allowed to sell at the same time. Of course, if you're just looking for hosting plans, this is how it works. Prices range from $ 12 per month up to $ 25 per month.

What's the catch with Weebly Free Hosting?

Weebly is great ... well, Weebly, and doesn't play really well with anything else. For example, it doesn't support server-side scripting (like PHP) or database integration. Your free website domain will be created in the form of a Weebly.com subdomain. While it's extremely powerful on its own, that also means in terms of flexibility, once you start using it, you'll likely stick with Weebly forever.

Find out more about Weebly in my review.

3. Wix

Website: Wix.com

Wix is also a brand that has made its name in the website building field and was one of the earlier new generation of web tools. It's great for newbies and is easy to use. Plus, it has enough offers for beginners to get interested before hitting paid plans.

properties
  • Free Website Builder (Wix!)
  • Online shop
  • Free templates
  • Wix Apps
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 500MB
  • Bandwidth: 500MB
  • Database: proprietary
  • Control Panel: Proprietary

Free powerful web editor, but with advertising

Reliability and availability guarantees

You get what you pay for, and in addition to an extensive knowledge base, free accounts allow you to email them and take your chances. Only premium accounts get faster answers to any questions or problems they have.

Upgrade options

Because its plans are designed to add functionality to websites, Wix can get expensive at higher tiers. However, these prices include features like form builders, email campaigns, and even site reviews by professionals. The lowest counts at $ 4.50 per month, down to $ 24.50 per month.

What's the catch with Wix free domain hosting?

Again, Wix is a different proprietary engine, which means that they will try to keep it as good as possible. The good news is that it plays better with other tools compared to Weebly and is therefore compatible with some tools like Caspio, which is a free database platform. Oh, and Wix isn't ad-free. If you are not on a payment plan, Wix ads will become immediately available on your website.

4. 20i

20i is a UK-based web hosting provider that has only been around for a few years. However, the founders behind it have a long and remarkable track record. The company currently maintains a decent range of products, which surprisingly includes its own free CDN service.

properties
  • Easy app installation
  • Includes free wildcard SSL
  • Allows websites to be monetized
  • SSD storage
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 10GB
  • Bandwidth: 250MB
  • Database: 1 × 1 GB MySQL
  • Control panel: My20i

Ad-free, narrow bandwidth hosting

Impressive features for a free plan

This service provider ticks many of the correct boxes for their free offer compared to similar offers. Their notable features include that not only can they give you an ad-free experience, but they can also serve ads on your website to make money.

Upgrade options

The next logical step over the 20i free plan would be one of the standard shared hosting options. However, I suggest looking beyond the bottom tier and moving straight to the premium plan. Each type of resource gives you tons more - in many cases it is not measured.

What's the catch with the free 20i plan?

While 20i is generous in its main areas, they decided to limit the bandwidth a bit tight. All free users only get 250MB per month, an amount that is disappearing faster than you can say "boo".

Find out more about 20i in Timothy review.

5,000 web host

Since 2007, 000Webhost has been offering free web hosting services that are free from advertising requirements. Since they also offer paid hosting options, their business model revolves around free hosting services that are funded by the paid end of the business. This benefits everyone as the users of the free hosting services also have the opportunity to grow their websites by becoming paying customers at all times.

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 1GB
  • Bandwidth: 10GB
  • Database: 2 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: Cpanel

$ 0 / month hosting, but one hour of sleep per day

There's a 99% uptime guarantee on free accounts. With 000Webhost, however, you need to keep in mind that there is a one-hour rest period per day. That means your actual server availability starts at 95.83% - minus actual technical difficulties.

Upgrade options

000Webhost Offers Paid Hosting Plans Through Hostinger The fees for Paid Hosting depend on the length of time you are signed up for. The longer your contract runs, the cheaper the monthly fee will be. Prices start at $ 7.19 per month for a one-month contract.

What's the catch with the 000Webhost Free Plan?

Free users of the 000Webhost platform have to force themselves to "sleep" for an hour every day. This means that it is not available to anyone, including yourself.

Please see my 000webhost review for more information.

6. 5GB free

As far as web hosting websites go, 5GBfree is relatively new, but that could be a good thing as they claim to offer the very latest in technology including CloudLinux and equipment hosted a US-based, PCI and SAS 70 Type II certified data center.

Again, this is another company that gives free accounts the ability to expand as they grow. Free accounts are supported in the form of a knowledge base (which was not available at the time of this writing) and a community forum.

properties
  • Auto installer
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 5GB
  • Bandwidth: 20GB
  • Database: 3 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: Cpanel

Relatively new but large free hosting storage

Reliability and availability guarantees

Unfortunately, no indications of uptime guarantees for 5GBfree were found, nor was there any reliability information. There are plenty of little graces, however, as there are at least options to secure your files and databases in the back end. This also appears to be the case for the Pro account plan.

Upgrade options

At $ 2.95 per month, the Pro account the host offers is dirt cheap and what appears to be what many highly regarded web hosts have.

What's the catch with 5GBfree free hosting?

While the basic specs of the free accounts are fine, 5GB free doesn't host email for them. If you want to have an email account for your domain, you'll need to upgrade to the Pro account. Even more alarming is the complete lack of any form of service level agreement. Register at your own risk!

March 2021 update: 5GBFree seems to be no longer active. Although there was no official announcement, public comments suggest that users will no longer be able to access the site.

7. Award space

Webspace has been available since 2004, and Awardspace has been in the area a few times and is still standing. Over time, they have optimized their free hosting plan and kept up with the competition (and the times). Just last year they launched a completely redesigned website and optimized their services.

properties
  • Spam protection
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • Free website generator
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 1GB
  • Bandwidth: 5GB
  • Database: 1 MySQL database
  • Control Panel: Advanced Control Panel

Free hosting with no availability guarantee

Reliability and availability guarantees

The free version of Awardspace does not offer an availability guarantee. To do this, you'll need to sign up with one of their paid plans. For these at least, there is a service level agreement at 99.9% and no questions asked refund within the first 30 days if you are not satisfied with the service.

Upgrade options

Awardspace is available in three variants (apart from free). Pricing starts at $ 5.20 per month up to $ 10.30 per month. For new registrations, Awardspace offers a discount of up to 98%, which means you may only pay 9 cents per month.

What's the catch with Awardspace?

There is really no glaring catch with Awardspace and it offers newcomers what could be called a fair to mediocre free account. I think part of the plan is to price their starter paying plans in order to slowly attract customers and move them in. The benefits between paid plans are very gradual at the lowest level.

Read Awardspace ToS.

8. Byet host

Byet Host (yes, it is spelled correctly) is brave and claims to be "the world's fastest free web host". One reason for this could be that this only depends on the server processing time and does not consider anything else, such as time to first byte. It's the free arm of the hosting provider iFastNet that might be a head-turner too, as the cheapest plans seem to have six free domains! This free host has tons of goodies and might be worth a look.

properties
  • 24/7 support
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 5GB
  • Bandwidth: unlimited
  • Database: 5 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: VistaPanel

Free VistaPanel hosting solution

Reliability and availability guarantees

It's interesting to note that Byet Host offers 24/7 support for free accounts as well. Even if they take some time to process tickets, you often don't see a free host that offers real support. Most of the time, either knowledge bases are used or, at best, a user forum where you help each other.

Upgrade options

Since they have so many free accounts, what do you get when you pay to host with Byet Host? Upgrades to SSD-driven performance, free domains and, unusual enough - another control panel (cPanel). Prices start at $ 4.99 per month all the way up to $ 7.99 per month.

What is the catch?

While Byet Host sounds almost too good to be true, it might be good if you take some time to review what they offer in detail. I've found that the way many terms and services are interpreted in different ways is a bit dodgy and open to interpretation.

More details on Byet Host's terms and conditions.

9. Dreamnix

Instead of a free service, I would consider Dreamnix "almost free" because they offer top notch features with severe limitations in their free product. This is in line with their "try before you buy" concept.

properties
  • SSD-powered servers
  • Auto-Installer (WordPress)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 1GB
  • Bandwidth: 1GB
  • Database: 1 MySQL database
  • Control panel: Cpanel

Free cPanel hosting with SSD storage

Reliability and availability guarantees

It's a pretty good bet that this is legitimate as all-round Dreamnix emphasizes their money-back guarantee. In fact, it doesn't even take your credit card information to pay for a service. As I said - try it before you buy!

Upgrade options

Once you've outgrown your free hosting plan, upgrades mostly differ in terms of add-on features like access to cron jobs, mailing lists, and so on. The basics like bandwidth and sickroom go down to the lowest plan. Starts from $ 2 per month up to $ 4 per month based on annual subscription rates.

What is the catch?

As far as we can see, not much other than that Dreamnix is limited to data centers in only three locations. These are well distributed around the world so there shouldn't be any real problems here.

For more information about the Dreamix limitation, see the associated Terms of Use.

10. Freehostia

Freehostia proudly announces it has been serving hosts in the industry for more than ten years and is crying out for "Load Balanced Cluster Technology" versus standalone servers. It's a great web host, which means they have high-end services like dedicated servers in addition to hosting slots. On the other hand, the data center location is limited to Chicago only.

properties
  • Free website templates
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 250MB
  • Bandwidth: 6GB
  • Database: 1 MySQL database
  • Control panel: Cpanel

Free hosting service with no ads

Reliability and availability guarantees

Free host uptime is cited as 99.9%, which is usually an indicator that the plans are increasing reliability. Unfortunately, Freehostia doesn't show availability for paid plans, so it's a bit of a hit and a miss.

Upgrade options

Freehostia offers several Incremental Capacity plans. The bottom line here seems to be that a lot of emphasis is placed on the amount of storage made available. strange as storage is pretty dirt cheap these days and most web hosts are practically giving it away. Pricing starts at $ 14 per month up to $ 65 per month for the upgraded plans.

What is the catch?

Storage space, storage space and storage space, Freehostia seems intent on crippling users by just doing this. 250MB for a web host (even a free one) seems unreasonable today. Plus, there are so many plans out there that all you can do is flip through them to confuse them.

11. FreeHosting.com

The first thing you will notice when you visit this page is that it is paved with the word "Free" all over it. Great because this is right for you? Not so much when you realize that a long list of features is cunningly interspersed with non-free items just to make it look longer.

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 10GB
  • Bandwidth: unlimited
  • Database: 1 MySQL database
  • Control panel: Cpanel

Free web host with very limited features

Reliability and availability guarantees

I've been to this site again and again but there doesn't seem to be any uptime guarantee at all, which is a little scary. The only time money back is mentioned is within the 30 day period from paid accounts.

Upgrade options

Freehosting.com only offers two plans - you pay, or you don't. Paid accounts benefit from unlimited storage and bandwidth at $ 7.99 per month.

What's the catch with FreeHosting.com?

For the free service, not much we can find. BUT, there is a limitation in their terms of use; There is an out clause that basically says they can shut you down if you ingest too many (unspecified) resources.

Read the FreeHosting.com Terms of Use.

12. Free hosting EU

FreeHostingEU is not affiliated with Freehosting.com but reminds us a bit of Freehostia in the sense that it offers a paltry amount of storage in the hopes that you will get frustrated and upgrade. I'm not sure where the mentality comes from of annoying your customer in hopes that they'll pay you, but it seems to be successful for web hosts. However, it is worthless that this host also offers .eu5.net domains for free accounts.

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress and Joomla only)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 200MB
  • Bandwidth: 4GB
  • Database: 1 MySQL databases
  • Control Panel: Advanced Control Panel

Ad-free $ 0 hosting

Reliability and availability guarantees

All plans on Freehosting EU are linked to 24/7 server monitoring and a 99.8% availability guarantee. As far as web hosts go, that's on the low side. However, I guess they offer the same guarantee for free accounts.

Upgrade options

FreehostingEU comes in three flavors, free, BEST and PRO. The two paid plans are $ 6.95 and $ 11.95 per month, respectively, and come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. However, they do offer a discount for first time registrations.

What's the catch with Free EU Hosting?

Again, it's all in fine print and in the case of FreeHostingEU you'll be "WOW!" - if you don't pull your hair out first. Compliance is expected in many areas that are a little unusual because who thinks of some of these things? For example, you must agree that your storage space should be limited to only 10% image files, 10% archives, and so on. So, in reality, you are getting a web host that you can backup 20MB of images to.

For more information, see the Free Hosting EU Terms of Use.

13. Free hosting No ads

FreehostingNoAds has been around for 18 years, I don't scare you. This site is very generous in terms of what it offers, more than what some paid accounts go for. I think part of that is advertising subsidy as they plaster Google Ads all over their own website. They promise not to force you to wear their ads.

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 1GB
  • Bandwidth: 5GB
  • Database: 3 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: unknown

Free web hosting package with 3 MySQL databases

Reliability and availability guarantees

FreehostingNoAds seems like another hosting site that doesn't believe in uptime guarantees. However, users who join will be offered technical support, even on the free plans. However, it doesn't make it clear what kind of support is required - it could just be a reference to a knowledge base or FAQ.

Upgrade options

Upgrade options are available, and they're dirt cheap here. The most expensive plan you can go for is only $ 1.99 a month and that gives you almost anything you could want. In fact, for the $ 1.99 plan, they even throw away $ 125 worth of promotional credits for you!

What is the catch?

Apart from nonexistent uptime guarantees and murky technical support, nothing else. This seems to be aimed primarily at people looking for a free or cheap hosting solution and that is all. Given that they have an entire page devoted to HTML5 site building that is ultimately aimed at Wix, they could be a subsidiary of Affiliate.

14. Free virtual servers

FreeVirtualServers is one of Easy Internet's brands providing web hosting and SEO services. They are another reputable provider that has everything from free hosting to dedicated server hosting plans. Something good to note is that they are adding a popular website builder to their hosting plan; Weebly.

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 100MB
  • Bandwidth: 200MB
  • Database: 1 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: Cpanel

Free web host with limited storage

Reliability and availability guarantees

FreeVirtualServers offers the standard 99.9% availability guarantee and all free accounts are supported by a knowledge base and FAQ. There are also some tutorial flash videos available if more help is needed. 24/7 online support is reserved for paid accounts only.

Upgrade options

There are several upgrade options here, ranging from standard shared hosting to dedicated servers. Prices range from $ 6.45 per month to $ 155.20 per month (for a dedicated server). It's worth noting that this is a UK based company with servers located there. Prices are also calculated in British Pounds (converted to US $ here for your convenience).

What is the catch?

This host seems completely off the board as far as we can see, no big surprises even in terms of terms and conditions.

Here you can find the terms of use for free virtual servers.

15. Free web hosting area

Another long-time company in the web hosting arena, Freewebhostingarea is generous in its basic terms for free accounts. It also offers a curious option between two different control panels, one of which appears extremely bright.

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Conditional ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 1.5GB
  • Bandwidth: unlimited
  • Database: 1 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: FreeWHA Panel / Cpanel

Free hosting with WordPress & Joomla Auto Installer

Reliability and uptime guarantees

There's no mention of an uptime guarantee or technical support. In fact, even though a forum is listed, it doesn't actually exist. A cursory search returns many comments that this is not a completely reliable host.

Upgrade options

Upgrade options here are the first ones we've seen that prices mostly according to different control panels. FreeWHA appears to be a proprietary modification of an open source control panel script. Prices range from $ 1 per month to $ 6.99 per month.

What is the catch?

The list of catch clauses is a mile long and personally I would be afraid to even host a free site here. There are no real black and white restrictions, but at the same time they claim the right to terminate accounts for almost all suspected violations, even resource overuse. Definitely not the way to make friends. Their ad-free ad is also subject to conditions, as they indicate that they will place ads on the websites they want.

The FreeWebHostingArea.com Terms of Use can be found here.

16. InstaFree

InstaFree is bringing good business to potential website owners by saying their word. Even free accounts are hosted on SSD-based storage and they are generous in both their terms of service and feature offerings. In fact, not only is there free shared hosting, but there is even free reseller hosting and free VPS!

properties
  • Free website generator
  • Auto Installer (WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Ad-free hosting
  • PHP & MySQL database support
Performance characteristics
  • Storage space: 10GB
  • Bandwidth: 100GB
  • Database: 5 MySQL databases
  • Control panel: Cpanel

Free hosting with large storage capacity

Reliability and availability guarantees

There's the standard 99.9% uptime guarantee along with a relatively active community of users on the forums. Technical support is included but is limited to immediate issues related to the hosting service.

Upgrade options

All free accounts have their corresponding paid account, which is basically an increase over what the free account offers. Prices range from $ 1 per month to $ 5 per month. InstaFree also offers website transfer services, even for free accounts, provided you are using Cpanel.

What is the catch?

There are a couple of quirks, like the fact that InstaFree has a list of countries from which users have been banned. This includes countries like China, Russia and Poland, but also (surprisingly) Singapore.

Read Instafree's terms and conditions here.

Risks with Free Hosting Platforms

Anything that goes with the word "free" can be very tempting. Understandably, most newbies starting a website will want to keep their costs down and save money.

But remember that nothing is really free in this world.

If you are using a free web hosting platform, you don't even have to pay a dime to build and use your website hosting, there are numerous risks and issues to consider if you intend to use them. We are going to talk about the three main risks here.

Some free offers are never worth the drawbacks they come with. If your website is important, then you should educate yourself about these risks and choose a reliable, full-featured hosting provider. Most good shared hosting providers include a free domain name, shared SSL support, email hosting, unlimited data transfer and storage, and more website features for the price of $ 2 to $ 5 per month.

Risk # 1. Bad server performance

The most glaring problem with using a free web hosting model is terrible server performance. As you can see, in order to save server costs, many providers will group hundreds or even thousands of websites on a single shared server.

When you are using the same server resources on so many websites, it is inevitable that your website will run into numerous server problems such as: B. Slow loading websites or lots of downtime.

Some providers even impose restrictions or restrictions on their users when using their platform. 000WebHost forces its users to endure an hour of sleep per day, which helps maintain server capacity but ensures that your website cannot go beyond 95.8% availability.

With free hosting providers, you have to deal with a ton of tight and tight resource constraints that your website will quickly outgrow from. When that happens, you'll have to switch to a paid hosting account, which can mean more work and costs down the line.

Risk # 2. Sudden website / company shutdown goes out of business

As I said earlier, with free web hosting platforms you don't have to pay a single penny for their domain hosting services. Because of this, most providers don't take your website seriously. This puts a huge amount of risk with free hosting as your website can shut down at any time.

There have been many incidents where users using free hosting platforms got their accounts deleted or blocked without prior notice or warning. Since you are not paying for their services, many providers do not feel obliged to keep your website online indefinitely.

For this reason, many free hosting providers include certain provisions in their terms and conditions that allow them to close your website at any time if it is against their interests.

An example of this is from Free Hosting EU. by limiting their user's account storage to up to 10%. Should the user exceed the 10% limit, they can close the website without warning or penalty (Read the Free Hosting ToS here).

Risk # 3. Your data will be lost

Data is an important asset to any business, especially if you are an e-commerce company. However, with free web host models, your data is more likely to be leaked or stolen as most providers do not adhere to standard and basic security measures to keep their users safe.

Since many of these providers offer their services for free, they are usually not required to provide adequate security to protect their users and their data. This has led to cases where a user's sensitive information, such as usernames and passwords, has been stolen by hackers.

One such case of a massive security breach was with 000Webhost, where it repeatedly ignored security warnings in October 2015 by a Forbes journalist and a security researcher in October 2015. This resulted in them being hacked, causing 13.5 million users to have their passwords, email address and username stolen.

Free web hosting FAQs

Is Free Web Hosting Safe?

As mentioned above, there are various risks and catches in using free web hosting services. However, you can upgrade to the paid plan for all free web hosting services. This will remove your websites from the free server box and eliminate most of the risks.

How is free web hosting different from paid hosting?

The two main differences are cost and server resources. Free web hosting costs $ 0 and it usually comes with very limited server capacity (small memory, low CPU, etc.). Paid hosting usually offers better website security, advanced features, and more server resources.

What is the best free web hosting?

"Best" is relative - what is best for me may not suit you. However, Weebly, Wix, 000Webhost, 5GBfree, and Award Space are some of the best free hosting websites out there. It is recommended to visit all 16 free hosting service providers in this comparison chart.

Is there free web hosting with no ads?

Yes, there are quite a few free hosting platforms out there that don't enforce ad placement on their users' websites. Weebly, 000Webhost, 5GBfree are the top 3 we recommend.

Do I get an FTP connection with free web hosting?

Yes, most free hosting platforms allow users to upload files using FTP connections. Alternatively, platforms like 000WebHost provide an easy-to-use file manager that allows users to navigate, upload, and delete web files using the browser.

Which free web hosting includes a free domain name?

Weebly, Wix, 000Webhost, ByetHost, Free Hosting EU, etc. are some providers that offer free web hosting with a domain name. If you so choose, your website will be shown to the hosting providers as a subdomain (e.g. yourwebname.Wix.income).

Alternatively, for less than $ 12 a year, Hostinger has everything you need for free web hosting and domain names, with no strings attached.

How can I get a free domain name?

There are two ways you can get a free domain name - either through Freenom (the registry operator responsible for .tk ccTLDs) or a web hosting provider who sells a free domain name when you purchase certain web hosting packages. To learn more, check out this article.

Alternatives to free web hosting

It's important to point out that most free hosting options can't meet even the most basic standards required to run a successful business website. If you are serious about your website, for example - run an online business or plan to make money from your blog; It is better to host your website with a cheap shared hosting provider that usually offers quality service for a reasonable price.
