Dear film friends,

okay, I can see that I don't have the December text yet again can be left standing the whole year ... But what do you want to write?
Corona and the lockdown on installments will hopefully come to their deserved end at some point, even if it is difficult to believe at the moment. But what comes after that? Can you really hope that everything will be as it was before? Innkeepers, hairdressers, fitness studios as well as flower, book and other "small dealers", as long as they have survived the virus and lockdowns and are not desperate for government aid, will find their customers quickly.
I'm not quite as optimistic about the cinemas. Other factors add up here. Formerly it was considered a classic advantage of the cinema over the theater that it was "Can be stored in cans" (freely based on Ephraim Kishon). But it has long been possible to open these "cans" not only in the cinema, but more or less everywhere you walk or stand. People will go out to eat and have their hair cut like they used to, but an audience that has become accustomed to streaming for months may not come back to the movies easily. In addition, the “smartphone generation” is apparently shaping more and more consumers for whom it makes no difference to watch their films on a display the size of half a bar of chocolate. A whole year of Corona could help reinforce the trend towards home exploitation of films.

Last but not least, there is still the diffuse - but understandable - phenomenon that many people are more or less deeply insecure in order to avoid the ugly word "fear". The cinema is simply a “meeting place”, in which, even with all caution and keeping your distance, you can get closer to your neighbor than you currently would like to have with a good feeling. Nobody can estimate how long it will stay that way.
"The world is changing. I feel it in the water, in the earth, in the air ... " Can we now feel it in the cinema? Queen Galadriel's meaningful intro is the last thing I would like to think of in this context; it just imposes itself without being asked ...

There will always be films, and there will probably also be cinema in some form. It looks quite different with the posters. Although I have no ambitions when it comes to my age, I still appreciate seeing the day when the last movie poster is printed on paper ...
But please don't worry about it for now: My fund of paperwork from the last 60 years will last for a very long time ... BUT, please remember: I actually only have a lot once ..., so: who comes first ... and so ... It's not on me; my website is open around the clock, 365 days a year!

All the best ... please always stay "negative"!
