MIG / MAG welding in the automotive sector

In MIG / MAG welding, an arc is used to create the wire electrode, i.e. your Filler metal, melts through heat. A welding process gas protects the weld pool and the arc.

The process is very popular in the automotive sector for various reasons: It is suitable for processing very thin sheet metal. TIG welding in the automotive sector

TIG welding is part of gas shielded welding. You use a Tungsten electrodethat does not melt during the welding process. However, we recommend that you sharpen the electrode more often.

Experts in the automotive sector in particular rely on TIG welding because it offers two advantages over MIG / MAG welding: On the one hand, it creates a low material distortion and you can do a lot clean, narrow weld seams pull. It is therefore particularly suitable if you want to do fine-tuning on your car parts. You can also create flat seams that you can precisely monitor.

The same applies to the TIG process: One careful preparation is essential. First remove all oils, dirt deposits, paint residues and rust that has developed. If you are not yet practiced in TIG welding, we recommend that you first practice a few hours before you start welding on your car.

Welding with cored wire in the automotive sector

Cored wire welding is often an inexpensive and uncomplicated alternative to gas-shielded welding. All you need is one 230V connection and can do without gas and premises such as a garage or workshop. This is because cored wire welding is not prone to wind and drafts. Another advantage is that the cored wire welding process with a fine Spray arc is working. As a result, there is little or no material distortion in thin sheets.

Nevertheless, we advise you to use MIG / MAG welding or TIG welding, because cored wire welding also has many disadvantages. If the welding result is positive, your seam quality is still lower than with MIG / MAG welding. With the cored wire, the risk is significantly higher that Splash than with inert gas welding. There is also slag that you would have to knock off with a slag hammer. When welding with cored wire, you cannot individually adapt the current to the material, as 230 volts are required. MMA welding in the automotive sector
