Brief information

What is it and what is it used for?

Lisitril comp. is a medicine with two active substances for the treatment of high blood pressure. The two active ingredients are Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide.

What do you need to consider before use?

If any of the symptoms listed here apply to you, you must not take this medicine.

How is it used?

Lisitril comp. can be taken before, during or after meals. Lisitril comp. is given once a day, whenever possible at the same time of day. It can be taken independently of meals. The exact dosage will be given by your doctor.

How should it be stored?

Store in the original packaging at room temperature (15-25 ° C), protected from light and out of the reach of children.

What is it and what is it used for?

Lisitril comp. is a medicine with two active substances for the treatment of high blood pressure. The effect of one component (lisinopril) is based on the inhibition of the body's own substances that are responsible for the increased blood pressure. The other ingredient (hydrochlorothiazide) increases the amount of salt and water excreted by the kidneys. The mechanisms of action of the two substances support each other. This can effectively lower blood pressure.

Lisitril comp. can only be used if prescribed by a doctor.


What do you need to consider before use?

When can Lisitril comp. not be taken?

If you are hypersensitive to one of the ingredients of the product or to certain antibiotics (so-called sulfonamide derivatives), you should use Lisitril comp. do not use.

If you suffer from diabetes mellitus (type 1 or type 2) or have impaired kidney function and are taking medicines containing aliskiren to lower blood pressure (e.g. Rasilez®), you may use Lisitril comp. do not take.

If you have problems with your kidneys, e.g. you cannot pass urine (anuria), you may use Lisitril comp. do not take. If you have previously experienced itching, hives, sudden drop in blood pressure, swelling of the hands, feet or ankles, face, lips, tongue or throat (swallowing or breathing difficulties) when taking a blood pressure lowering drug, you may use Lisitril comp . also do not take. You should also inform your doctor if one of your family members has developed similar symptoms for any other reason.

If used at the same time with medicinal products containing the active ingredient combination sacubitril / valsartan (used to treat heart failure) or racecadotril (used to treat diarrhea), Lisitril comp. should not be used as there is an increased risk of angioedema (swelling of the face, eyes, lips or tongue, breathing problems).

Lisitril comp. must not be given to pregnant women, children and adolescents.

When should I take Lisitril comp. Be careful?

This medicine can impair your ability to react, drive and use tools or machines! This is especially true at the beginning of treatment and in connection with alcohol.

This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per dosage unit, i.e. it is essentially «sodium-free».

The doctor treating you should be aware of all illnesses that you have gone through or are now suffering from, especially high blood sugar (diabetes) and diseases of the liver or kidneys (severe narrowing of the kidney arteries). Your doctor should also be informed if you suffer from a narrowing of the aorta or an abnormal enlargement of the heart muscle.

If you are taking so-called mTOR inhibitors such as temsirolimus, everolimus, sirolimus or medicines with NEP inhibitors such as racecadotril or sacubitril, your doctor must be informed about this because you can increase the risk of angioedema. Signs of angioedema are swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat with difficulty swallowing and breathing.

Also let them know if you are dieting or if you have diarrhea or vomiting.

If after taking Lisitril comp. If you notice swelling of your face, eyes, lips or tongue, or if you have difficulty breathing, please report this to your doctor immediately. Take Lisitril comp. Do not proceed further without consulting your doctor.

If you have to undergo dialysis, you must inform the healthcare provider that you are using Lisitril comp. (a combination preparation that contains an ACE inhibitor) because certain blood filter membranes resp. certain dialysis procedures may not be used in this case. If you have to have an operation, you should tell the doctor beforehand that you are using Lisitril comp. take in.

If you have ever had skin cancer or if you notice an unexpected change in the skin during treatment. Treatment with hydrochlorothiazide (one of the active ingredients of Lisitril comp.), Especially over a longer period of time and in higher doses, can lead to an increased risk of certain types of skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma, "white" skin cancer). Protect your skin from sunlight and UV rays while you are using Lisitril comp. and check your skin regularly so that your doctor can see any unexpected changes.

If you want to undergo desensitization therapy against bee or wasp stings, inform your doctor beforehand, as your therapy with Lisitril comp. needs to be changed. In rare cases, allergic reactions can occur after insect bites.

The use of Lisitril comp. in combination with medicines containing the active substance aliskiren is not recommended.

Lisitril comp. in rare cases the effect of insulin resp. increase oral antidiabetic drugs. If you have diabetes and are being treated with insulin or oral antidiabetic drugs, you should therefore pay particular attention to signs of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar).

The first time you take a tablet, your blood pressure may be influenced more strongly than during subsequent treatment. If your blood pressure is very low or you feel weak and / or dizzy, lie down until you feel better and tell your doctor.

Certain medicines can reduce the effect of Lisitril comp. influence. Therefore, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Antihypertensive drugs, including those containing the active ingredient aliskiren,
  • Medicines that have been associated with low blood potassium levels (e.g. water tablets (diuretics), laxatives (laxatives), amphotericin (a fungicidal agent), salicylic acid derivatives (aspirin derivatives), adenocorticotropic hormone),
  • Medicines with added or replacement salts containing potassium and other medicines that may increase serum potassium levels
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) for rheumatism, arthritis, muscle pain (e.g. Aspirin®, ibuprofen or indomethacin),
  • Gold injections (such as sodium aurothiomalate) commonly used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
  • Lithium-containing medicines for depression
  • Medicines for the treatment of cancer (e.g. cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, everolimus) and medicines that prevent the rejection of a transplanted organ e.g. kidney or liver (such as temsirolimus, sirolimus),
  • Racecadotril, used to treat diarrhea,
  • Alteplase, a fibrinolytic that is used to dissolve blood clots in various vascular diseases,
  • Supplements that contain calcium or vitamin D,
  • Medicines used to treat heart problems (e.g. digoxin)
  • Medicines to treat cardiac arrhythmias,
  • Ciclosporin (medicine used to affect the immune system),
  • Cholesterol lowering medicines (cholestyramine or cholestipol)
  • Medicines with the active ingredient combination sacubitril / valsartan (used to treat heart failure).

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you

  • suffer from other diseases,
  • Have allergies or
  • take / ingest other medicines (including ones you have bought yourself!) or apply them externally!

Can Lisitril comp. be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Tell your doctor or health care professional if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Lisitril comp. must not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

If your doctor tells you Lisitril comp. Expressly prescribed during breastfeeding should be weaned.

How is it used?

Lisitril comp. can be taken before, during or after meals. Lisitril comp. is given once a day, whenever possible at the same time of day. It can be taken independently of meals.

Your doctor will determine the starting dose. The usual dose in most cases is 1 Lisitril comp tablet. 20 / 12.5 once a day, in lighter cases 1 tablet Lisitril comp. 10 / 12.5 once a day.

It is important that you remain active while you are taking Lisitril comp. keep regular check-ups with your doctor so that the therapy can be individually adapted to your symptoms.

If you have already taken water tablets (diuretics) or are on a low-salt diet before starting therapy, your doctor will either stop the diuretic 2-3 days before treatment or give you a small dose of lisinopril for the time being.

Do not change the prescribed dosage on your own. If you think that the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

What are the possible side effects?

The following side effects may occur when taking Lisitril comp. occur:

Common (affects 1 to 10 users in 100)

Dizziness, headache, tingling in the hands and feet, low blood pressure (especially when standing up), fainting attacks, cardiac arrhythmias, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, dry cough, muscle cramps, impotence, tiredness and weakness can occur.

Uncommon (affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000)

Occasionally there is gout, palpitations, dry mouth, chest pain, loss of appetite, mood swings and other signs of depression, taste disorders, sleep disorders, hallucinations, increased pulse, runny nose, shortness of breath, sore throat, hoarseness, bronchitis, abdominal pain, indigestion, itching, blurred vision, Constipation, photosensitivity, and nettle rash have been reported.

If during treatment with Lisitril comp. If swelling occurs in the face, lips, tongue or throat (swallowing or breathing difficulties), stop taking the product immediately and inform your doctor immediately. Also, interrupt the treatment if the skin becomes very itchy with swelling. It can rarely occur during treatment with Lisitril comp. changes in the blood count. In addition, the occurrence of skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma, “white” skin cancer) has been reported. Therefore, you should immediately show your doctor any unexpected changes to the skin that you have made during treatment with Lisitril comp. observe.

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 people)

Very rare undesirable effects are jaundice, liver failure, inflammation of the sinuses and the lining of the mouth, increased sweating and serious skin changes (with symptoms such as redness, blistering, peeling reactions and lump formation). Other possible undesirable effects are small-scale bleeding in the skin, restlessness, yellow vision, stomach irritation, inflammation of the salivary glands, acute myopia, acute glaucoma (narrow-angle glaucoma) and fever.

Serious allergic reactions have been observed in some patients since the market launch.
