What happened to the social bookmarking site Delicious

The joint research of several people, which can be bundled through social bookmarking, enables synergy effects and promotes the development of common knowledge. The collections created in this way are always available online and can be accessed regardless of time and location.

Working with a social bookmarking service requires you to be connected to the internet. In addition, it requires a relatively high degree of personal discipline. In an interview with wb-web, the trainer Hedwig Seipel describes her work with the Pocket service: “When I research something and find a topic totally exciting, it happens to me that I first quickly put it in the Pocket and plan to do it afterwards to be tagged. But then I'll find the next one and it's already forgotten. " Seipel sums up the work with the tool: "The keywording works very well in theory, in practice it is only as good as it is implemented."

Areas of application for social bookmarking services

Social bookmarking services are suitable for working with colleagues who are busy with the same or similar topics. If someone finds something interesting on the common topic, he / she places the link in the group and assigns suitable keywords that bring the found item into a meaningful context for everyone.

Providing your own sources and links and collecting them collectively is also conceivable with participants and in some seminar contexts, for example in multi-part units in which something is to be worked out together. Every participant in the group is automatically notified of new content using a notification function by email. The integrated comment function enables further discussion of the content.

In this way, knowledge about a context is worked out together. Joint collections of links are created that provide information about suitable, current content on a topic or comparable interests of others.
