BERNEDOODLE

The Bernedoodle is a hybrid dog that is bred from a combination of 2 purebred parent animals. One parent is a Bernese Mountain Dog and one parent is a Standard Poodle. The

Characteristics of these two breeds are to be combined in the Bernedoodle.

In order to clarify the harmony of these two breeds, we also present the characteristics of the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Large Poodle:

Bernese Mountain Dog

Character:

Bernese Mountain Dogs are confident, good-natured, and friendly. They have a strong alert drive without being aggressive. Today they are not only good house and farm dogs, but also popular family dogs if they are carefully socialized and used to capacity.

Life expectancy is approx. 7-10 years (depending on the breed line and living conditions).

Look:

The fur is long and smooth (at most slightly wavy). He has a black coat over his torso, head, neck and tail. A white blaze begins on the forehead, which widens towards the muzzle. A white pectoral cross, white paws and often a white tip of the tail are further characteristics. Brown-red spots over the eyes, brown-red cheeks and markings on the side of the white chest hair and on the legs complete the picture.

Build, height and weight:

The Bernersennen dog is a strong dog that can grow up to 75 cm. The weight is between 30 and 60 kg, depending on the size.

LARGE POODLE

Character:

Today poodles are companion and family dogs. In the past they were used as hunting and retrieving dogs (mainly for water birds). Regular exercise is very important for poodles as they are athletic and spirited. As an outstanding property
called the learning ability / intelligence. This makes it relatively easy and good to raise poodles. They are also often very suitable for. B. as therapy, guide or search dog. Poodles need loving and consistent upbringing. They cannot stand pressure or excessive hardship. He is open to children and makes a great family dog. Life expectancy at up to 15 years is quite high for such a large breed.

Standard Poodle Appearance:

The fur is fine, tightly curled and growing steadily. It hardly sheds and does not change its coat. The coat should be sheared regularly, although it is up to the owner whether he prefers a classic "poodle hairstyle" or a coat that is shorn to the same length. You can do a "simple" shearing yourself with a little practice and skill. The poodle comes in many different colors.

Build, height and weight:

Standard poodles have a sporty and square build and often have a slightly "prancing" gait.

From a height of 45 cm at the withers one speaks of a standard poodle. The "larger" standard poodles also reach a size of 62 cm and more. Depending on the size, the weight is approx. 18 to 30 kg.

By the way: Contrary to popular belief, the poodle is one of the least changed dog breeds over the centuries. Probably because the human desire for "beautification" has only raged on his shear and not on his anatomy.

Bernedoodle

Character:

The Bernedoodle combines the characteristics of the Bernese mountain dog and the standard poodle. He is a friendly, playful and very intelligent family dog. He can be led well with a loving and consistent upbringing. His urge to move is medium and he needs regular exercise AND activity. The Bernedoodle has a life expectancy of approx. 9-12 years.

Look:

The Bernedoodle has a slightly curly, soft fur. It grows steadily, hardly sheds and should be sheared or cut from time to time. It requires regular but uncomplicated maintenance. In addition, the fur is relatively low-odor. As a rule, the colors of the Bernese mountain dog can be found again. Dog allergy sufferers often get along very well with doodles. In each individual case, it is essential to clarify exactly which allergens the person is reacting to.

By the way: If the mother of the Bernedoodle puppy is a poodle (which is the case with us :) the probability that the Bernedoodle does not shed is significantly higher. About 75% of the skin properties are inherited from the mother;))
