Mashed potatoes recipe

For the preparation of the Mashed potatoes, Peel and wash the potatoes, cut into pieces and bring to the boil in a saucepan with salted water.

After 20 minutes, drain the water from the potatoes and let them evaporate briefly.
Put the potatoes in a potato press and press them into the already used saucepan underneath.
Add hot milk and butter to the mashed potatoes, put the pot back on the hob, beat the mashed potatoes with a mixing spoon or whisk until it is white and frothy.
Season to taste with salt and nutmeg.

Another way (the classic way) of preparing the mashed potatoes would be this:
Peel the potatoes and cut into small pieces. Put the potato pieces in a saucepan with enough salted water to just cover the potatoes with water. Bring the potatoes to the boil, then let them simmer for about 20-25 minutes.

With a potato masher (you can buy it in the household goods store), mash the cooked potatoes well, adding a piece of butter and enough cold milk to make a fluffy mashed potatoes.

Finally whip briefly with the electric hand mixer until frothy. But be careful here. If you stir too long with the mixer, the mashed potatoes lose their floury substance and become slightly greasy and sticky.

Or another variant is to boil the potatoes including the skin in salted water to make jacket potatoes.
Let the potatoes cool down briefly, peel them, then press them through a potato press or spaetzle press and use a mixing spoon to stir the potato mixture into a frothy mashed potato with a piece of butter and as much milk as necessary.
Season to taste with salt and nutmeg.


A serving of mashed potatoes, approx. 260 kcal and approx. 6 g fat.
