What was your only moment in Scotland

About Stephan Goldmann

In 1990 I went to the Scottish Highlands for the first time. Back then, the green hills, the dark peat and the smoky whiskey captured my heart.

The first four times I was on the road as a classic back packer: with a backpack we (a friend and I) got around on foot, by hitchhiking or with the Citylink bus. We slept outdoors in the tent (see picture). As scouts of the DPSG, we bravely endured midges and wetness.

Today I go to Scotland every year with my wife Katrin (we got married in the Highlands, pictures here) and sleep in comfortable, exciting or romantic accommodations, visit distilleries and historical sites.

Katrin has always been there and takes care of the pictures and also many video recordings.

Over time, more and more people have asked me where to go - so many that I thought I should write it down. And that's exactly what I'm doing here, on this website.

I actually visited all of the places and sights mentioned here. Therefore, this website cannot show all the sights and interesting places in the Highlands - I will not describe what I have not seen. But I continue to collect diligently. My aim is also that I research in-depth information for each attraction.

Meanwhile I also publish several Scotland travel guides. My book about the Outer Hebrides made it into the top ten of the German Self-Publishing Award in 2018, the Isle of Skye Travel Guide won the German Self-Publishing Award 2019 in the non-fiction category.

I hope that the information here will give you some good suggestions ... and maybe give me a few ideas and criticisms.

Have fun!
