Official rules of the DVV

Photo DVV: The rulebook shows, among other things, the hand signals of the referees.

The German set of rules in the DVV is official and independent. It is derived from the international regulations of the FIVB.

The German Volleyball Association has these rules translated by the Federal Referees Committee and makes them binding for the DVV game operations.

Different regulations can be decided in the leagues, which mostly affects the technical environment. The basic rules, however, remain uniform.

Features of the game

(From: Official indoor volleyball rules, Hofmann-Verlag GmbH & Co. KG, Schorndorf, see below)

Volleyball is a sport in which two teams of 6 players each face each other on a playing field divided by a net. There are different versions for different circumstances to make the game accessible to everyone. The aim of the game is for each team to bring the ball correctly over the net onto the floor of the opposing half of the field and to prevent it from falling to the ground in its own half of the field. A team has the right to touch the ball three times in order to return it to the opposing half of the field (without counting the block contact). The ball is put into play by a server. He serves by hitting the ball over the net into the opposing half of the field. The play lasts until the ball hits the ground, goes "out", or a team fails to play it back properly. In volleyball, the team that wins the move receives one point (rally point system). If the accepting team wins the move, it receives one point and the right to serve. The server changes each time the service is received.
