How do I tune my djembe

Repair of Djembe & African musical instruments

We have been repairing djembe drums, bass drums, bougarabou and many other drums for 20 years. We can also tune and repair balafons and other African instruments for you in our Djembé Art music workshop. If you have a defective drum or need help with an African musical instrument, we are happy to be there for you. It is best if you send us a photo by email so that we can get an exact picture of what it is about and estimate how complex a repair is. Then we can discuss your wishes and the optimal implementation of the repair by phone. The best way to reach us is Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Drum head change

If the skin of your drum is torn, we can advise you so that you can repair it yourself, or we can do all of the work for you in our workshop. There are many ways to influence the sound through the choice of head. A wide range of fur can be found on the Drumskin & Rawhide page. We can re-string your drum with or without a fur edge. We can bring the tension ring to any desired height and at the same time make many small and large improvements to your drum.

Here is customer feedback from September 4th, 2008:
'Hello Martina and Gavin, I still enjoy the sound of my drum very much! Do you remember? I had a new coat pulled up on you in the spring. I am fully satisfied with your work! I have already visited two others in their field and I have to thank you again for your professional and clean work and service! I don't know any better ones! It's a shame that you live so far away, I would like to drum with you. Olaf '
