Set and manage alarm clocks on iPhone

This article will teach you how to set and edit an alarm clock, have Siri set an alarm for you, and track your bedtime.

With the clock app, you can turn your iPhone into an alarm clock. Just open the clock app from the home screen or control center. You can also ask Siri to set an alarm for you.

Set the alarm clock

  1. Open the Clock app and tap Alarm Clock.
  2. Tap.
  3. Set a time for the alarm. You can also choose one of the following options:
    • "Repeat": Tap this option to set a recurring alarm time.
    • "Description": Tap this option to give the alarm clock a name.
    • Sound: Tap this option to choose an alarm sound.
    • "Snooze": Activate this option to have a "snooze" option displayed when the alarm goes off.
  4. Tap on "Save".

Set the alarm volume

Go to Settings> Sounds & Haptics. Under "Ringtones and Alerts" move the slider left or right to adjust the volume. A tone will play so you can hear the volume change. To change the alarm volume with the volume buttons on the device, activate the option "Change with buttons". Here's what to do if the alarm clock is too loud or quiet.

Set the alarm with Siri

Here are some examples of what you can ask Siri to do:

  • "Wake me up tomorrow at 6:30 am."
  • "What alarm did I set?"
  • "Set my working alarm clock."

Edit or delete alarm clock

How to edit an alarm clock:

  1. Open the Clock app and tap Alarm Clock.
  2. In the top left, tap Edit.
  3. Tap the alarm time, make your changes, then tap Save.

How to clear an alarm clock:

  • Swipe left on the alarm clock, then tap Delete.
  • Tap on "Edit", then on and then on "Delete".
  • Tap Edit, tap the alarm, then tap Clear Alarm.

Record bedtime

With the "Bedtime" function you can determine how long you want to sleep per night. The clock app can then remind you to go to bed and wake you up in the morning with an alarm sound.

Receive alarm clock support

"Do not disturb" and the "Ring / Off" switch have no effect on the alarm tone. If you set the "Ring / Off" switch to "Off" or activate "Do not disturb", the alarm clock will ring anyway.

If the alarm does not ring at all, is too low, or your iPhone only vibrates, do the following:

  • Adjust the volume on your iPhone. If the alarm volume is too low or too loud, use the volume buttons to increase or decrease the volume. You can also move the slider under "Settings"> "Sounds & Haptics" under "Ringtones and notification tones".
  • If your alarm only vibrates, make sure the alarm tone isn't set to None. Open the Clock app, tap Alarm Clock, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm you want, tap Sound, then choose a sound.
  • When you connect headphones or speakers to your iPhone, the alarm will play at a set volume through your iPhone's built-in speakers and wired or wireless headphones and speakers.

Adjusting the time of your iPhone manually in the settings to change the behavior of apps (e.g. timers in games) is not recommended and can affect alarm times.
